Laura Jill Kurmann Finishes the 2026 SFT World Cup as World Vice Champion

The final race of the 2026 SFT E-Foil World Cup brought the world's eFoil riders to Menton, France, for one last weekend of racing on the French Riviera.

Held from 11–13 September, the SFT LA FRECH E-Foil World Cup marked the final race of the season, with championship points and the overall standings still on the line.

JetWave was represented by Laura Jil Kurmann and Mike Verkoelen, both racing on the JetWave Carbon Series against an international field of eFoil riders.

For Laura, the weekend ended with an incredible achievement: finishing the 2026 season as the SFT World Vice Champion.

A New Challenge on the Carbon 55

Laura entered the final race with an additional challenge.

Although she normally rides the JetWave Carbon 75, for the Menton race she switched to the smaller Carbon 55, despite having no previous training sessions on the board.

The more compact board offers a more responsive riding experience, allowing for sharper turns and quicker reactions, but also requiring greater balance and precise control at racing speeds.

Throughout the weekend, Laura adapted quickly. Her speed and confidence improved with every session as she became more familiar with the C55 and its more aggressive riding characteristics.

After a competitive final weekend, she secured her position as second in the world for the 2026 SFT season.

It is another important achievement in Laura's eFoil racing journey and a result that reflects the consistency, precision and determination she has shown throughout the season.

Mike Verkoelen Reaches the Pro Quarterfinals

JetWave rider Mike Verkoelen also delivered a strong performance in Menton.

After making his way through qualifying, Mike advanced into the Pro category and earned his place among some of the strongest riders competing at the event.

It was a narrow margin, but reaching the Pro quarterfinals after progressing through qualifying marked a strong result in a highly competitive field.

Racing with the JetWave Carbon Series

Competitive racing puts both rider and equipment under pressure. Acceleration, stability, cornering and control can all make a difference when races are decided by very small margins.

Both Laura and Mike competed on boards from the JetWave Carbon Series, designed around lightweight carbon construction and responsive performance.

The Carbon Series combines a 6 kW propulsion system with carbon fiber board, mast and wing options designed for different riding styles. For racing, the F700 front wing and R200 rear wing provide a smaller, responsive setup designed for high-speed riding and precise cornering.

With speeds of up to 56 km/h, the Carbon Series gives experienced riders the ability to push their performance further while maintaining control at speed.

An Incredible End to the 2026 Season

Menton marked the end of an exciting season of racing and another important step for JetWave in competitive eFoiling.

Congratulations to Laura on becoming SFT World Vice Champion 2026, and to Mike for a strong performance in the Pro category.

A season of training, racing and pushing limits has come to an end. We are proud of our riders and already looking forward to seeing what they can achieve next.
